Mapping My Own Constellation
It was 7 a.m. in Washington, D.C., deep in the tunnels of the Metro.
The air was still. You could hear the low rumble of trains and the shuffle of shoes against concrete. We stood in a long, single-file line on the narrow escalator, wearing our black suits, tired stony faces, floating upward like ghosts.
And I remember thinking,
“This is my life. This is it. This is my life for the rest of my life…unless I do something different.”
At the time, I was working in IT consulting, the kind of career that’s supposed to make you feel high-powered and successful. All designer bags. Fancy dinners. Shiny cars.
It looked great on paper, but it was the cliche golden handcuffs, too good to leave, too soul-crushing to stay.
So I did what any 20-something in a quarter-life crisis would do:
I sold everything I owned, fit my life into a backpack, and became a digital nomad.
For a while, it was freedom. Sunrises in Thailand, night trains across Europe, my laptop and I against the world.
But even surrounded by beauty, I felt hollow. I realized I wasn’t chasing freedom, I was running from myself. All of us nomads living the “cool travel life?” We were all lost souls with passports, trying to remember who we were before the world told us who to be.
When I finally looked at my birth chart through new eyes, everything clicked.
My Taurus Sun reminded me that stability isn’t the enemy; it’s sacred when it’s self-created. My Leo Rising demanded that I be seen, to lead and inspire. My Aquarius Moon explained why I never fit into systems…my soul came to build for the collective. And with Saturn in the 5th and Mercury in Aries, I realized why I was built to create, teach, and turn inspiration into structure.
Now, I live in Hawai‘i…barefoot in the Pacific, building a life that finally feels like home.
The ocean teaches me to flow. The mountains remind me to ground. Every part of my chart is expressed now , structure and surrender, intentional and playful.

I’m Amy Truong, mystic, spiritual career strategist, and author of the upcoming Divine Cosmos Tarot (Llewellyn, 2026).
