Eclipses have a reputation….
They’re intense because they are portals.
We get told things like don’t manifest, don’t charge your crystals, definitely don’t look directly at one. (Okay, that last one is actually important).
Some of the lore has roots in astrology and ancient mythology, and some of it is modern internet-made-up rules. And if you’re newer to astrology, it can be hard to tell which is which.
Soooo we’re going back to the beginning!
In this live workshop, I’ll walk you through what a lunar eclipse actually is, what eclipses mean astrologically, and how to think about what one may be illuminating in your own life.
You don’t need to know how to read a birth chart and there will be no need to memorize houses, aspects, or planetary glyphs.
Just come a little curious!
What we’ll explore…
✦ First: what exactly is a lunar eclipse?
We’ll start with the basics — the Sun, Moon, Earth, lunar nodes, and why eclipses have held such a significant place in astrology.
✦ Why astrologers pay attention to eclipses
Eclipses have traditionally been associated with periods of change, culmination, revelation, endings, and shifts in direction.
We’ll talk about what that actually means without turning every unexpected Tuesday into a cosmic emergency.
✦ Where the eclipse shows up for you
You’ll learn some simple ways to begin looking at an eclipse in relation to your own birth chart — especially the area of life it may be highlighting.
You won’t leave knowing every piece of eclipse astrology (that’s way too complicated) but you will leave knowing what to look for.
✦ Mystical Tools + Reflection
Astrology can show us the pattern and tarot gives us another way to sit with what we’re noticing.
We’ll use a simple tarot reflection to explore what may be ready for your attention, what you’re carrying forward, and what you may be reconsidering.
Bring a deck if you have one. If you don’t, you can still participate.
✦ A little grounding before we go
We’ll close with a lunar + energetic cleansing from my own personal & cultural practice, because all that thinking, feeling, chart-looking, and eclipse-ing has somewhere to go and not stay in our bodies.
This workshop is for you if…
You’re curious about astrology but still consider yourself a beginner.
You know your Sun, Moon, and Rising but have no idea what people mean when they start talking about eclipses and lunar nodes.
You love mystical things and still occasionally roll your eyes at mystical things.
You want to understand the deeper symbolism and energies rather than simply being told what an eclipse is supposedly going to “do” to you.
Or you just want an evening to learn, reflect, pull some cards, and spend time with other curious people.
You are very welcome here.
What you’ll leave with…
By the end of our time together, you’ll have:
A clear understanding of what lunar eclipses are
A beginner-friendly framework for thinking about eclipses astrologically
A way to identify the part of your chart — and life — that may be getting your attention
Eclipse inquiries that you can return to after the workshop
A simple + powerful tarot practice for working with what comes up
An energetic cleansing practice for closing the experience
We will never quite know exactly what will happen next, but we want to understand life’s moments a little better — decide what to do with what we see, and make meaning + some magick out of what happens to us.
Your Lunar Eclipse Guide
I’m Amy Truong, an astrologer, tarot reader, writer, and the author & creator of Divine Cosmos Tarot with a forthcoming book, Moonshift, with Llewellyn Worldwide.
Growing up, my grandmother read cards for the Vietnamese community around her, and mysticism never felt completely separate from ordinary life in my family.
I’m also someone who still asks a lot of questions and likes to make meaning from what happens to us.
I use astrology and tarot less as instructions from the universe and more as a mirror + a map: ways to notice patterns, understand ourselves more clearly, and make more conscious choices about where we go next that is aligned with who we are.
That’s how I’ll be practicing through this workshop, too.
I really dislike astrological fearmongering and I am not a guru or teacher. I’m just a curious adhd-adled seeker who has spent way too much time researching, experimenting, sharing the thoughts of others, and occasionally creating systems and frameworks to understand the intricacies + mysteries of the universe.
“You are just so magical in every way. It’s like you were meant to do this. You light everyone up and teach them exactly what they need to be successful. It’s amazing."
